My name is Monica Clare Murphy and I am a trilingual creative who seeks to share mis dones with others. Currently, my creative ventures include poetry, comedy, songwriting, performing, cooking, and crocheting. On this site, I will share my narrative, poetic, and musical writings. I like to mesclar all the languages, speaking esportuglish*. However, no te preocupes because I will link the Spanish and Portuguese words to their translations. As you peruse the content, you will notice I have muchas influencias. All of which range from my roots (the good ol’ Midwest), to dating, faith, work, and to my travels in South America. Na verdade, I have Argentina to thank for introducing me to el charango. I wish I could play like the guy below.

Thirteen years ago I was roaming the streets of Buenos Aires backpacking between my semesters abroad in Brazil. I decided to buy an instrument and was on the hunt. An argentino convinced me to purchase el charango because few Americans knew it. Plus, if I purchase one from him, it will come with a free little book, he said. I was sold! The book taught me some técnicas tradicionales until I lost it... Sin embargo, I’ve mostly used it so I can focus on my main instrument, minha voz. One that I have trained, refined, and worked to make entirely my own.

Mi música explores the ups and downs of life: love, heartbreak, awkward moments, existential questions, and the strange beauty of being human. The twist? I approach it all with humor. Eu creo that laughter can heal and help endure some of life’s biggest challenges. I use music to invite you to feel deeply, laugh freely, and maybe take life just a little less seriously.
